I’m in Minneapolis for a few days, and decided to enjoy the weather with a stroll through downtown streets around the hotel. Earlier this weekend, for the first time in about 15 years I shot my first roll of film – a roll of black and white Kodak TMAX 400 – on a Nikon F4. The smell of the stock and the anticipation of getting the images back (didn’t develop these on my own this time) was exhilarating.
I suppose that some of that exhilaration has carried over to today. I had an intense desire to find and photograph textures, and to continue to work in black and white. And downtown Minneapolis certainly has them.
Here are a few from my trek this evening, shot on a Nikon D100 with a Sigma 18-50mm lens and converted to black and white in Lightroom.
I’m in town for the rest of the week, and the forecast calls for rain – and that could be a bit of fun. The moisture may make for some more interesting images. We’ll see how things turn out –
