The new image Tulip in Glass is now available for purchase via my artist webpage.
This image is special to me for a couple of reasons:
First, it’s the wonderful product of the efforts of my future wife, Sonya, and I. She planted this tulip bulb last fall in our yard, and it bloomed just about a week ago. We found the miniature mason jar while looking for items for our product display, and the wood Sonya ordered for the garden she’s reading for planting. After clipping the tulip, I pulled all of the pieces together and shot the setup in our craft room with natural lighting from a window in the room. A small LED macro photography light added a bit of side lighting to soften some of the shadows.
For me, the image represents the best qualities of the team she and I have come to be, and will continue to grow into after we wed in June.
Second, the image is simply… peaceful. It reminds me of my time training as a practitioner and educator in both massage and yoga, and everything about the image brings me to that place of mindfulness and meditation: the colors, the textures, the light. The image simply works for me.
